Have you heard of Leap Motion? If not, you probably will soon. The Leap Motion controller is an "iPod-sized" computer peripheral that lets users interact with software in a 3D environment. Using hand and finger gestures, you can intuitively swipe through menus and windows, slice fruit (as seen in the image above), or guide your favorite “Angry Bird” to its target with a flick of your finger.

A great way to visualize an application of Leap Motion's controller is to imagine the user interfaces in the movie Minority Report. Tom Cruise's character navigated the computer screen like a conductor guides an orchestra.
For developers, there are endless possibilities to apply gesture control to existing software. I imagine the truly innovative apps will be made specifically for this new hardware. I expect marketers will harness this technology for creative and interactive advertising. It could be the start of a new touch-less revolution...
